Taking Bets – USF at Pitt

The Tampa sports scene is banging right now. Master of the 4th quarter comeback Josh Freeman has the Bucs in first place in their division as they head into a home game on Monday Night Football for the first time in years. The Rays are on top of the world as they completed the biggest September comeback in history last night to sneak past Boston into the playoffs. Most importantly to this column, the USF Bulls are ranked in the top 15 and are undefeated. The Bulls are 2.5 point favorites on the road at Pittsburgh and I like them to win this game by at least a field goal.

Last week Pitt covered as a home dog to Notre Dame and I don’t think they have that kind of effort in them again. Ray Graham is one of the top running backs in the country (and proud member of bourbonmeyer.com’s fantasy team) but Pitt will have to score some points and will abandon the ground game to try to keep up with BJ Daniels and the prolific Bulls offense. The weather will be a little cooler than USF would like and they may come out a bit slow in the first quarter, but I like them to warm up and throw the ball around Heinz field. Also don’t bet against the Bay area momentum, take USF -2.5.
