Taking Bets – Florida at Georgia

The Gators visit Athens today for their second game with the Georgia Bulldogs. Florida won the first match-up in Gainesville by 22 points and looks to keep the Bulldogs reeling. Georgia has lost 3 straight and 7 of their last 9. The big story for UF is how they will play in their first game with Will Yeguete out for the season. Yeguete is an important big man for the Gators and they lost both games that he missed with a concussion earlier in the season.

The Gators are 8 point favorites on the road today and the over/under has climbed to 129 from an opening line of 126.5. The Over was the correct side to be on in the last 6 Florida/Georgia games before this year. With Yeguete out, the Gators will play even less defense than usual and the over should be a winner. I also like the Gators to cover the 8 point spread. The last 6 times that Florida has beaten Georgia, they have covered the spread. 2 of the last 3 years have seen the Bulldogs win their home game straight up as underdogs, but I don’t think this Georgia team has that much bite to it. I am looking for an up and down game today that sees the Gators win by a score of 75-63.

  1. Dear Rainman,

I’m now behind by two payments on my mortgage. You’re one more double dip pick away from a column that fades you!
