My most hated Gators team and a betting pick

So before I give you the pick for today’s Miss State vs Florida matchup, I am debuting the starting lineup for the Gators I really don’t like. We are sticking with all Billy Donovan era players, because as far as I can tell, that’s when Gator basketball started. Today we start at point guard, and the loser is…

PG – Brett Nelson – The so called next Jerry West never really lived up to expectations in Gainesville after helping the team get to the final four. He peaked in his freshman year and seemed to get worse every year after that. Gator fans don’t really know what happened between him and Teddy Dupay, but we take Dupays side (especially as a fellow gambler). He recently returned to the O-Dome as an Arkansas assistant and I wish I could have been there to throw batteries at him. In the final game of his career at UF, he played only 16 minutes and had 0 points, 0 rebounds, 0 assists and the 2 seed Gators lost in the 2nd round of the NCAA tourney. He also besmirched my SI Collector’s Edition celebrating the 2006 national championship by being named to their all time Gators team.

Brett Nelsons lasting moment for Gator fans.

So today’s betting pick looks the same as last week’s betting pick. No matter how bad the SEC West is this year, I can’t pick the Gators as 5.5 point favorites so I am staying away. But once again I am going to take the over 136. This one opened at 135 and has been climbing so play it quick if you can. I like both teams to get into the 70s again.
