With the 2012 recruiting cycle coming to an end, the Gators wasted no time in securing a commitment from one of the top 2013 running backs, Adam Lane from Winter Haven High School.
Lane (5’7″, 218 lbs.) will likely be ranked as one of the top running backs in the state of Florida and is known as a traditional power back.
Florida was the first school to offer Lane a scholarship in June 2011 and Lane has had the Gators out in front since. In an interview with Rivals.com, Lane said of Florida, “They are not only about football there they care about you off the field as well. It feels like family there so much I can just be myself there.”
Lane was prepared for a stellar Junior season after he produced a monster 305-yard, 5 touchdown Spring Game. However, Lane broke his fibula in August in a practice before his first game of the season. Lane has since fully recovered and finally saw the field again when he participated in the Under Armour Junior Combine. At the combine, Lane ran a 4.71 40-yard dash, bench pressed 185 lbs. 28 times and had a 29.00″ vertical leap.
Lane will likely be ranked a 4-star running back by recruiting services. He also held offers from Georgia Tech, Illinois, Ohio State, Rutgers and South Florida.
