Gators Can Look to Next Year But It Might Not Be Pretty

Boy, that escalated quickly. I mean, that really got out of hand fast! Ron Burgandy may as well have been referring to this past weekend’s showdown in the Swamp. The Cocks pounded us like we were a two-dollar whore. No words can properly describe the acrid taste in our mouths as our Father, the turncoat, was hoisted onto the shoulders of the SEC East champions in white, red and black. But the really sobering thought is that South Carolina is set up really well for next year. Jeffrey and Lattimore are a ferocious combination. What will Florida offer next year? Jordan Reed full-time? Incoming freshman Jeff Driskell? Another two- or three-headed rotation? The defense loses its Tebow in ultimate warrior Ahmad Black. It could be another tough year in America’s toughest conference.

Good thing we’re a hoops school anyway.

On to this week’s rankings:

1. Oregon
2. Auburn
3. Boise State
4. TCU
5. LSU
6. Stanford
7. Wisconsin
8. Ohio State
9. Nebraska
10. Oklahoma State
11. Michigan State
12. Alabama
13. Arkansas
14. Nevada
15. Oklahoma
16. Missouri
17. Virginia Tech
18 .South Carolina
19. Texas A&M
20. USC
21. Arizona
22. Northwestern
23. Iowa
24. Mississippi State
25. Florida State

It is mindnumbing that Vegas is allegedly ready to install Oregon as a 9 1/2 point favorite over Auburn should they meet in the BCS title game. Is that assuming Auburn makes it but Cam Newton is declared ineligible? That’s just ludicrous. Of course, the chances are still good that either Oregon (less likely) or Auburn (more likely) won’t make it to Tempe. The Ol Ball Coach will have Carolina ready for the Tigers, assuming Saban doesn’t get them first. And if that happens, the internets might implode with the chaos of a Boise State/TCU title game berth. So at least we’ve got that to look forward to the rest of the way.
