Gators Almost at Rock Bottom

My thoughts on the state of the Florida football program:

That sums it up. I tweeted (@shawn_kopelakis) out Saturday this is what rock bottom feels like. Heath Cline (@heathradio) corrected me that rock bottom would be missing a bowl game. Well that’s not much farther down the road for Florida. 6-6 will be a challenge with South Carolina, Florida State and yes Vanderbilt left. If Florida misses a bowl game, it will snap the second longest active streak in the country. Florida hasn’t missed a bowl game since sanctions kept the 1990 team out of the postseason. FSU actually has the longest active streak, all the more painful for Gators fans.

Of course if Florida doesn’t qualify for a bowl game, it will end an even longer streak. They haven’t finished with a losing record since the infamous 1979 season. Florida State is also the current leader here as well. Who would have ever thought Vanderbilt would be the biggest game on the 2011 schedule?
